1. What is documentary wedding photography?
Documentary wedding photography is all about capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. Rather than constantly posing or directing you, I'll blend into the background and photograph genuine moments, real emotions and the little details that tell the story of your wedding day
2. Will you still take group photographs?
Absolutely! While my approach is primarily documentary, I'm always happy to photograph family groups, bridal party photos and a few relaxed portraits of the two of you. We'll plan these together before your wedding so they run smoothly and don't take you away from your guests for too long.
3. Do you pose couples?
Only if absolutely necessary. My aim is to create natural, relaxed images rather than stiff, overly posed photographs. I'll gently guide you where necessary, but I want your personalities and connection to shine through.
4. How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is unique, but as a guide:
Gathering Collection: Approximately 150–200 images
Union Collection: Approximately 250–300 images
Story Collection: Approximately 400–500 images
I don't limit your gallery. I simply deliver all the best images that tell the story of your day.
5. How long does it take to receive our photos?
You'll receive a small preview gallery within 72 hours of your wedding so you can relive those first memories and share a few favourites with family and friends. Your full gallery will then be delivered within the timeframe outlined in your package.
6. Do you travel?
Yes! Travel is included for venues within 25 miles of my home. For weddings further afield, any additional travel costs will always be discussed and agreed with you before booking.
7. How do we book?
Booking is simple. Once you've chosen your collection, I'll send you a booking agreement and invoice for the 20% booking fee. Your date is officially secured once both have been completed.
8. When is the remaining balance due?
The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding date.
9. What happens if we need to cancel or rearrange?
I understand that plans can change. If you need to postpone your wedding, I'll always do my best to transfer your booking to your new date where I'm available. Full details can be found in my booking agreement.
10. Are our photos edited?
Yes. Every image is individually selected and professionally edited in my signature style. This includes colour correction, exposure adjustments and careful finishing touches while keeping everything looking natural and timeless.
11. Do we receive high-resolution images?
Yes. All final images are delivered in high resolution through a private online gallery where you can download, share and print your photographs.
12. Can we share our photos on social media?
Of course! Once your gallery has been delivered, you're welcome to share your photographs with friends and family. I'd simply appreciate being tagged where possible.
13. Do you photograph weddings outside Nottinghamshire?
Yes! Although I'm based in Nottinghamshire, I'm happy to travel across the East Midlands and throughout the UK.
14. What equipment do you use?
I always photograph weddings using professional-grade cameras, lenses and backup equipment to ensure your day is captured safely and reliably.
15. Are you insured?
Yes. I carry public liability insurance, and my equipment is fully insured for weddings and events, giving you complete peace of mind on your wedding day.
16. What if it rains?
Some of the most beautiful wedding photographs happen in unexpected weather. I'll always work with the conditions on the day and make the most of every opportunity, whether that's embracing the rain with umbrellas or finding beautiful indoor locations.
17. Can we request specific photographs?
Absolutely. Before your wedding, I'll ask you about any important moments, family members or details you'd particularly like captured. While my style is documentary, I always want to make sure the photographs that matter most to you are included.
18. We're a little camera shy. Is that okay?
Absolutely, it might even be an advantage! Most of the couples I photograph tell me they're not comfortable in front of the camera, and that's completely normal. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, so rather than asking you to perform for the camera, I'll focus on capturing genuine moments as they naturally happen. By the end of the day, many couples tell me they barely noticed I was there.
